DUO LES DIVERTISSEMENTS
Maria Vittoria Jedlowski - Claudio Ballabio
Claudio Ballabio
Claudio
Ballabio was born in Seveso and graduated
in Milan with Antonio Barbieri. He has performed
in Italy and given concert
tours in Germany, Austria, England, Lebanon and Holland. In
1985 he formed the guitar duo Les Divertissements with Maria
Vittoria Jedlowski (CDs Si l'on revait... Sonitus 1992, Dialogo Map 2003, Duende Casa Musicale Eco 2007) and they have often appeared together as
soloists in performances of concertos for two guitars and orchestra
(for example first performances of the concertos by Francis
Kleynjans, John Duarte and Sebastiano Cognolato).
In 2000, 2001 and 2002 Claudio Ballabio and Maria Vittoria Jedlowski
toured Italy and Holland with the Naildance Guitar Quartet (CD
NaildanceGuitarQuartet, Map 2001) playing music for guitar quartet
written by contemporary composers. At the moment he is very much
involved in performing a style of music which crosses the frontier
between classical and jazz, both in collaboration with the flautist
Giuliano Prada in the duo Warp and in collaboration with the
jazz guitarist Franco Cerri. He teaches the guitar at the Scuola
Musicale di Milano.
